Donate Gear

“I’m an ER travel nurse. I love the outdoors and I was looking up where to send gently used packs since I replaced my own recently. I also wanted to support people who upcycle. I’m biracial so I’ve been wanting to get more people of color out in nature. If I can promote that with paying it forward with some good gear, that’s a no brainer.”

One easy and popular way to support our mission of connecting youth to the outdoors, is by donating your gently used (or new) outdoor gear.

  • We pass on items like base layers, coats, boots and backpacks directly to students.

  • Camping & camp kitchen gear we loan or give to schools for their outdoor club.

  • And special items are consigned to support our programs.

Items needed:
• Outdoor clothing, including base layers, mid-layers, outerwear, rainwear, hats, gloves, warm socks and boots
• Camping and backpacking gear, including camp stoves, tents, backpacks, poles, sleeping bags, headlamps, lanterns, cookware, guidebooks and binoculars

Advantages to donating:

• Tax-deductible
• Enables more clubs to enjoy the outdoors
• Helps support our programs
• Upcycling feels good!

Find More Ways to Make an Impact

If you’re searching for more ways to help get Maine high school students outdoors, consider making a donation to Teens to Trails. Your contribution can make a big impact in the life of a teenager. Donations help us provide student grants and scholarships for outdoor adventures, and make it possible for more schools to get outside through inspired programming.

Thanks to our Generous Gear Donors

From podcast hosts to retired pediatricians and PCT hikers, we’re thankful to everyone who donates to Teens to Trails, so that more Maine students can have access to the outdoors!

“I went on my first wilderness adventures with this duffel bag when I was 12 and 13. I had just entered a new school, and it was a trip where many of us began to bond. I wanted to make sure someone would enjoy my gear and get a chance to experience the outdoors for themselves.” - Donor from Pasadena, CA

Some of my starter gear from a few adventures in the Catskills and Hudson Valley of New York. All in good shape - plenty of miles left, I know you guys will put them to good use! I was fortunate to experience the outdoors pretty frequently but I know other black kids don’t necessarily get that opportunity, I hope this gear helps.
