The Teens To Trails Board & Staff on a retreat

Alicia Heyburn - Executive Director

Alicia previously ran CommunityWorks, a consultancy specializing in building communities that appreciate, protect and restore natural resources. She is no stranger to Maine’s environmental non-profits, serving on the board of the Maine Island Trail Association, the Advisory Board of the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust, the Ride Committee of Bicycle Coalition of Maine, and the Lands Committee of the Harpswell Heritage Land Trust.

Her lifestyle supports the Teens To Trails mission and is replete with outdoor experiences that connect people to nature. She is a Registered Maine Sea Kayak Guide and a Wilderness First Responder, as well as co-leader of the Ladies Adventure Club, an outing club for Maine women. She is the mother of two teens (a fisherman and a hiker), married to a former L.L.Bean product developer and Chewonki camp leader, and promotes the restoration of rivers to benefit anadromous fish. She and her family live in Brunswick.

Katrina Cornish - Outreach and Programs Coordinator

Katrina’s childhood was spent in the woods and waters of Southern Maine, exploring and learning from the natural world. A strong connection with the outdoors led her to pursue a B.Sc. in Environmental Science at the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Katrina spent most of her free time in college with the university outing club, enjoying many high adventure sports (i.e. canyoneering, ice-climbing, white-water kayaking, etc). During and following school, she worked for several non-profits in Maine, Florida and California as an outdoor/environmental educator and most recently comes from Portland Public Schools. Katrina currently resides in Harpswell, ME. You can find her playing ukulele, board games, adventuring with her dog.

Marlene Flaherty - Outreach and Events Coordinator

Marlene grew up in Washington County, where there are more trees than people and endless opportunities to opt outside. She wanted to explore urban living and completed her undergraduate degree at Berkeley College in New York City. Studying Marketing and Management and working for a magazine- she found that her passion lies outside of the corporate and/or concrete sphere. She has spent the last 5 years working in the non-profit sector and serving as an AmeriCorps member/leader. National service provided her a platform to visit 42 of the 50 states and engage with communities. Working with Teens To Trails allows her to continue to serve and combine her focus areas of youth development, environmental stewardship, and community building.
