Camp Runoia (Belgrade Lakes) looking for responsible adults to lead wilderness trips with small groups of girls ages 8 – 14.  Trip leaders will work with a co-leader to plan, pack and lead 1 to 2 night wilderness trips throughout Maine.  Our schedule is rigorous, yet rewarding as we ensure that all campers participate in a trip during the summer. Greencove known for our focus on outdoor adventure and solid wilderness tripping program. We are looking for individuals with strong skills in at least one of our main activities to be counselors this summer (especially women but our brother camp, Mondamin, does need some guys too). We are specifically looking for climbers, hikers, mountain bikers, and paddlers, possibly with potential to lead some trips. We are also looking for somebody to run our Nature program for the summer! Our program runs from May 23- August 17, though there is some flexibility with those dates. We also provide WFR training for our prospective trip leaders at a very reduce price, and chances to get some additional skill-specific trainings as well. The base pay for a first year counselor, who has just completed their first year of college, is $2700 for the full summer, plus room and board. That amount increases with age and experience. Camp Susan Curtis (Stoneham) Hiring Camp Cabin & Program Staff. $1800/summer (8 weeks), sleeping accommodations and 3 meals/day. This is a 8 week commitment from June 17-August 19. Applicants must be graduating from High School or age 18. Prior experience working with children is necessary but camp experience is not required. Old Quarry Ocean Adventures (Stonington) Hiring office staff, waterfront, sailing instructors, kitchen help (short order cook), sea kayak guides, and general all round flexible employees that can do different things throughout the week. Rafting Guide Positions

 

New England Outdoor Center (Millinocket) NEOC is looking for both full-time and part-time whitewater guides and videoboaters for the upcoming season. NEOC also hires other service and cook staff.. NEOC rafts on the West Branch of the Penobscot river. People with a strong work ethic, a sense of humor, and an ability to learn quickly are encouraged to apply. All applicants must: be 18+, have a valid drivers lisence and have First Aid/CPR (WFR preferred). NEOC conducts training in late May that prepare candidates for the Maine Whitewater Guide test - giving you the Level 1 license which will allow you to raft on the Lower Penobscot, Kennebec River and Dead River. After 6 Commercial runs (which will likely happen quickly) and some more training you will be advanced to the Level II license which will allow you to guide Class V whitewater on the Upper Penobscot. On days off, NEOC guides often hike Katahdin, explore Baxter State Park, fly fish on the West Branch, swim in Togue Pond or go on play runs on the river in rafts, kayaks or boogie boards. Volunteer Opportunities

 

Acadian Boat Tours (Bar Harbor) Looking for a volunteer galley person. The position is most likely full-time and does not pay. Previous cashier experience might be helpful, but is not necessary. Must be at least 15 years of age, be drug free per US Coast Guard requirements, should love boating and enjoy being with people. You will be out on the water, learning about Acadia National Park and work with crew and naturalists while stocking the galley and waiting on customers. Back Country Excursions (Parsonsfield) 2 week internship assisting with the daily operations of a Mountain biking vacation adventure lodge. Will be the last 2 weeks in July or the last 2 weeks in August. Complete scholarship awarded to the right student.Regular wages are not to be expected, BUT any tips from clients will be shared or the intern will be provided with a small stipend. Mountain biking experience is very important. Additional to this, an applicant should be outgoing and like spending time with new people and be willing to do some house work. Back Country would provide room and board in their Yurt if intern was not interested in/able to commute. Intern should provide their own mountain bike. Looking for applicants 17 or older.
