What is T3?
Teens To Trails is dedicated to increasing the opportunities for teens to experience the out-of-doors through the systematic creation of and support for high school Outing Clubs.
Our Core Values:
Outdoor experiences are critical to the health and well-being of our youth, providing roots upon which to build their lives.
Outing Clubs are the most effective and efficient means to engage teenagers in the outdoors while introducing them to fun healthy lifelong habits and environmental stewardship.
With active and sustainable Outing Clubs or outdoor adventure programs offered in every high school, ALL teens will have safe access to the outdoors and their lives will be enriched in body and spirit.
What is Teens To Trails?
Teens To Trails® (also known as "T3") is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the opportunities for Maine teens to experience the out-of-doors through a variety of programs that promote high school Outing Clubs across the State.
Outdoor experiences are critical to the healthy development of our youth, providing roots upon which to build their lives. It is our firm belief that teens live healthier happier lives when they feel connected to the natural world within which they live. We are increasing public awareness of the importance of that connection to a teenager’s mental and physical wellbeing as we battle against nature-deficit disorder.**
Outing Clubs are the most effective and efficient means for engaging teens in the outdoors and reaching teens Statewide. Each of our programs serves to increase the numbers of school communities offering Outing Club programs, making safe outdoor experiences available to teens throughout Maine. Through our support tools, programs and events developed specifically for Outing Clubs, Teens To Trails will ensure that every Maine teen has the chance to get outside, feel safe and grow.
"T3" recognizes that there is no shortage of wonderful places for teens to explore in Maine and so do our many "T3 Partners". We are building a “network of support” for Outing Clubs that includes knowledgeable land managers, outdoor-oriented organizations & businesses, colleges, Maine Registered Guides and other enthusiasts - all well-versed in the outdoors. And through this network, we are linking teens to the many Maine people and places available to help them get outside safely. Teens To Trails will act as the umbrella for an association of Outing Club programs tied together for mutual support and strength.
We look forward to the day when all teens have access to outdoor experiences, they are healthy & safe, and they are learning about their natural world while they learn about themselves!
