A PROJECT THAT COMES STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART... ![]() We lost our 15-year-old daughter,
Sara, in a car accident on July 13th 2005. Our lives were turned
upside down in an instant. Our family of four returned to a
family of three & our loss could not have been more
penetrating. We lost the peace, the hope, the joy we had come to
know. In our search for some sense of reality, we turned to the one
constant in our lives ...
“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earthfind reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.” Rachel Carson
In our “new life”, we
find we have a need to be out-of-doors more than ever. We feel
closer to Sara there. We hold dear to the memories & all the
special moments our family has had together outside... searching for
sanddollars, picking berries, pressing fall-colored leaves, collecting
heart rocks, digging toes in the sand, scrambling over rocks to
mountaintops, watching a meteor shower, riding the ocean waves, kayak
paddling against the tide, swimming with sea turtles, skiing through
chilling winds, catching snowflakes on our tongues, camping alone on an
island, waking to the sounds of a blow hole, scuba diving in total
darkness. If we can help someone else to find even one such special moment in
their life, it will have been well worth it.
Both our daughters treasured their Outing Club experiences at Wiscasset High School. We dedicate our efforts in developing this Teens To Trails initiative to Sara & all those special people who care enough to help teens connect with their surroundings. Carol & Bob Leone Sara's friends & family have established a special Scholarship in her memory. LEARN MORE ...
