Hello Friends,

Teens To Trails has partnered with two organizations to offer two fall events for high school Outing Clubs.  We hope you can join us.  Our Grants-to-Clubs program begins now!
Outing Club Grants Available

At our spring Conference '08, L.L.Bean announced financial support for our new T3 Grants-to-Clubs Program to begin this school year.  Teens To Trails is putting funds directly into the hands of Outing Clubs to help new Clubs get started and assist existing Clubs in strengthening their programs.  We hope to reach 3 to 5 Clubs right away with grants of about $500 each.  There is a
simple application process.  Requests are due October 15th with notification to grant recipients in November.  Here are the
GRANT GUIDELINESContact Carol Leone if you have questions or need help.

Two Fall Outing Club Opportunities
T3 helps Outing Clubs start the school year right by getting outdoors...

Weekend Retreat at Adventure Bound - Sept 27-28
Adventure Bound is opening its facilities to Outing Clubs at a bargain price.  For $10/student, Clubs can camp, swim & canoe on location with hiking or biking trails closeby.  Make use of outdoor cooking facilities, pool, hot tub & hot showers!

Combine Trail Work & Fall Colors - Saturday, Oct 18
T3 & Maine Huts and Trails are partnering to provide Outing Clubs a day in the Carrabassett Valley, clearing trail while hiking through beautiful terrain.  Basic instruction & tools provided.  Participants earn a "Bring-a-Friend" coupon for a future stay at the new hut along with community service hours.
Outdoor Video Competition for Teens

Teens 19 & under may submit their short movies/videos on the theme of "Why Being Outside Matters" to the Maine Outdoor Youth Movie Festival.  Entries must be received by September 19th.  Judges include Olympic Snowboarder Seth Wescott.  Winners will be featured at the Governor's Conference on Youth & the Outdoors on October 2nd.  Read about prizes and HOW TO ENTER...

T3 wants to help Maine's high school Outing Clubs.  As the new school year begins, we are working hard to take first steps on several new support programs that help teens get outdoors & connect to their natural world.  Want to know more?  We welcome your ideas & your involvement.  Please contact us.

Sincerely,

CAROL LEONE
