AMOC Announces Winter Skills Weekend January 2016!

Calling all AMOC members! Come snowshoeing & x-country skiing for the weekend and learn valuable winter skills taught by the folks at the Outdoor Sport Institute (OSI). Hosted by Maine Huts & Trails and T3. Space is limited and we want as many clubs represented as possible. We invite you to bring up to 2 advisors and up to 3 student leaders. *Please note that if you have an AMOC ADVISOR ONLY membership, you are invited to come yourself, but if you would like to bring student leaders and/or another advisor you must upgrade your membership level to club ($75). Cost (includes 6 skill sessions, all meals, overnight stay, and ski/snowshoes (if needed): 
$30 per advisor
$15 per student

Saturday, January 7th
9:00 am   – Meet @ trailhead, basic instruction and guided ski tour into Flagstaff Lake Hut
10:30 am – Intros & Icebreakers (pun intended!) 
10:45 am - Session 1: Planning a Winter Trip
11:30 am - Session 2: Outfitting for Winter Trips
12:30 pm – Lunch & Discussion
1:45 pm   – Session 3: Winter kitchen & Cooking
3:00pm    - Session 4: Skiing & Snowshoeing
4:30 pm   – Break, optional ski/snowshoe technique 
6:00 pm   – Dinner
7:00 pm   – Evening Session: AMOC Business Meeting
8:30 pm   - Board games & good cheer
10:00pm  - Quiet time/bedtime
 
Sunday, January 8th
6:00am  –  Optional ski/snowshoe technique 
7:30 am   – Breakfast
9:00 am   – Session 5: Food & Nutrition for Winter Trips 
10:00am   - Session 6: Cold Injuries - Prevention, Identification and Treatment
12:00 pm  – Lunch & Closing
12:45 pm – Ski out to trailhead
